Why are some people not being rational about entitlements?

The left wing media condemns republicans saying that every deficit plan will cost more to seniors. HELLO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is not rational to condemn an attempt to save a program rather than do nothing and let it go bankrupt, which every committee says will happen soon. Does not everyone understand that? I am not a republican but I am intelligent enough to understand that I do not believe any politicians actively want to hurt seniors, especially considering they will all be one as well. Obviously if something is not sustainable changes will have to be made, which means less benefits. I don't think many people realize how much trouble we are in. Greece started failing and bankrupting itself when national debt reached 100% of countries GDP. Guess where we are at right now? If the debt ceiling is raised to what Obama wants we will be at 115% of GDP. Guess where that leads. But since the world economy is reliant on us, who do you think can bail out the US. Our GDP is larger than the worlds economy. Its time to get serious. Stop the political BS.
