How did the economy of Detroit have a downturn with the collapse of the automobile industry?

I live in Detroit, and my father worked for one of the big 3 auto company's. In Detroit a lot of people find work in the automotive industry. When everything went down hill there were mass amounts of lay offs, and to my understanding it was a ripple affect. All the people who worked for the automotive industry did not have the money to go out to eat, or buy things they once bought, so the surrounding businesses fell after them. There are a lot of people who have gone back to school to get out of the automotive industry as well as a lot of people who moved out of state. Detroit lost a lot of population in the 2010 census. I do not think that Japans Auto industry was a main factor in the collapse of Detroit's industry. The engineers working for the auto industry had been in there for a while, some like my dad for 26 years, had just been getting paid more and more money, and eventually the company's could not afford to pay all of their employees, thus causing the lay-offs. Like I said I think it really had a lot to do with the fact that so many people lost their jobs working for these company's. I by no means know that these are the actual facts or reasons, but I did live through it all, so hopefully it points you in the right direction.

I moved to this school in fifth grade. Now I'll be going into freshman year. During the summer of fifth and sixth grade I went to the school to hang out with my best friend at the time(A girl). On the way there as we passed the gas station, there was a group of the more jock-like guys, who I do not like because they were very rude and judged people A LOT. Yes, we did have jock-ish people at that time, more mild then, though. Story short- we got called losers, fatties, bitches, etc., but went on. They were there when my friend and I got to the park-school thing. They teased us, stole my water, and well, were assholes. I never wanted to see their faces, mainly his. To my surprise, he was in my 6th grade class. Well, I avoided him because of his douche-ish acts. During the year, I progressed into more of a girl.(Within 3 months) Meaning--not to be offensive-- I slimmed out and got 4 inches taller.I was really short, by the end of that I was 5' and 1 half inches. After that was over... I caught him staring at me. That went on for the rest of the school year. While we were at a week long camp(in May), he was in my group, one thing on my mind- oh joy... I told this kid who I joke around with a lot that I, jokingly, hated him, the guy who I'm asking the question about(who I'll nickname 'boy') was behind me talking to a guy. Boy then said, 'you don't hate me, right?'. Confused I said "no.. you're alright." that was odd. On the last day of school, Boy walked up to me blushing and was going to say something, but then walked away.(I know it's long, bare with me!) He has been in 4 of my classes(not including 6th grade) during the course of middle school, and has been my project partner once, and we barely talked to each other during that time, or during middle school at all. Boy still stared and sometimes blushed or smiled. I talked to my very good best friend, who is a gamer and guy, and he said he has only the slightest clue of a yes. I know this question has been asked before (or something close to it). My reason for asking is because my girlfriend and some of her friends went around wearing satanic shirts, every one of them got in trouble for it and had the choice to either turn the shirt inside out, or get Internal suspension. Some of her friends flipped their shirt inside out, and the others.. well they got ISS... the next day they did it again, same results.. BUT they had someone wear a Jesus shirt (which was clearly religious) and the person wearing the Jesus shirt did NOT get in trouble, nor did she get sent to the office. Now there is nothing in the rulebook stating that it is NOT aloud to wear satanic material (or any religious material at that matter) at school. Now some additional details of the matter is that none of the people that participated in that has really got in trouble for much of anything.. they just get tired of all the bible humpers throwing their religion onto them. They just wanted to see if they would be ignored or if action would of been taken.. and low and behold action was taken.. on my girlfriend. She has also tried telling the teacher on them, but the teachers do nothing. so my question is, could the principal get in trouble for doing something to them, and not all the christians that are trying to force their religion on them? Personally I think that there should be no religious showings in school, but other than that I believe there should be ACTUAL freedom of religion.. which is stated in the student handbook. My dad won't let me play world of warcraft help?

My dad is not permitting me from play World of Warcraft because practically one reason: i't has satanic references in it. I'm 13 so my age is not the reason and he told me this too. Now That I Live Alone With My Mom, She Takes Her Stress Out On Me!!!!!!!1?

So, my older brother and sister went to College, and i'm 17, a junior, and am an A, AP student. I often feel like when she is stressed she likes to blame me for things going on in her life. I do what i can to help her, i believe i really do! but she gets angry and says things like "You Never do anything for me, i always have to do things myself, you always think about yourself" and when she says this, she is talking about me cleaning the house for her, which i do every once in a while, not all the time, but to say i "never do anything for her" is a definite stretch. She also goes into "Its always "mom will do it" or "it's mom's job"" but, she doesn't do any more for me than any other mom does, in fact, i like to think i'm quite self reliant. And she always makes a huge deal about whenever i do something wrong, or mess up just once! when i forget something, or if something short notice some up, she claims that i should have done something about it much earlier, and she has a point lots of times, but whenever i try to explain why something happened, or if i even question it, she comes back with "why can't i ever say anything to you without you making up excuses", and i see them as a reason why i made that mistake, which i believe is an appropriate response when she is tearing me down. And if i question her argument like "name just one time when i did that" and she can't come up with one time, she says "I don't know, i guess i'm always wrong then", and then she starts to cry. she claims i always get defensive and that she come back with "might as well never say anything to you because it makes you upset and defensive" and i do get defensive, largely because the way she points out and makes a big deal out of every mistake, feels like an attack against how hard i work, or against me.but that fails to be the part of her that annoys me the most, she expects me to do (or not do) things that she doesn't do (or does do) herself! an example of this would be her need to compare me to herself when she was my age, because she took care of her other siblings (she was oldest) yet whenever i compare her, or even myself to ANYTHING whether it is good or bad, she says that i should never "compare yourself to others". and it makes me want to say something, but usually i try to remain in a completely calm voice, and not say anything about it, even when she is yelling in my ear. another example would be something that happened just a few days ago. I needed to wake up at 5:15 in the morning, for a trip to Charleston (SC), so i set my alarm, and she is usually my back up, so i told her, "if i'm not awake at 5:25, wake me up please." and she ends up waking me up at 7:10, 20 minutes before the bus to Charleston, because she forgot, and She got mad at me because i didn't plan better and, and all of these other reasons why it is my fault, and i end up taking every little bit of fault, with the whole "you are right, you are right, you are right etc....", (I end up making it barely in time, even though my school is 25 min away). then i return, and that very next morning, I had to wake up for a 5k at 6:00 in the morning, and she had to go to work at 6:30, and she said that she would wake me up if my alarm fails again, and she also said that she would have to be up all night doing work. so, i wake up when my alarm tells me to, around 4:15 ish, and i assume she is working, so i get all ready, and i look in her room, and she is asleep, so i wake her up, and she preceeds to tell me she didn't awaken from her alarm, and she starts yelling at me because i didn't wake her up before i got ready, and instead, woke her up when it was time to leave the house, and keeps telling me how it was completely my fault, and i take every bit of it, even though in my head, i keep yelling to myself "THIS IS THE EXACT SAME THING YOU DID TO ME YESTERDAY, YET THEY ARE BOTH MY FAULT?!?!?!?!?!?" it makes me want to explode, but i know if i even try to defend myself, she starts telling me how i always feel the need to protect myself, or how she feels that I make her always seem wrong, and how she feels she cannot say anything to me without me getting defensive, and she cries she she does this so its hard to argue back. She does these things when she is stressed, which is a lot of the time. (even though when i bring it up, she claims she never does things like this). Another aspect of her is the fact that i cannot blame her for anything without her responding "why do you always look for everything I do wrong??". And (at least it seems to me) I never blame her for ANYTHING (out loud)! and when i do she responds with this. she is really a good mom, and she works hard, and she isn't like this all the time, but when she is, i want to explode, and i feel i can't bring it

Need a computer guru to explain the 32 vs. 64 bit scheme?

Have an old EMachine (T3612) that had Windows Vista Basic with an upgrade to Home Premium. Later downloaded Widows 7. You will quickly learn that I am not computer literate. The Windows 7 was 32 bit. I learned some time after that the original setup was a 64 bit. It had 512 memory and we added 512 more. I need to understand how this impacts on the computer's performance, if at all. The Motherboard is a Coconut Creek, Chipset is Intel, Modem is Conexant, Lan is Intel, and Audio is Realtek. The computer is old, but operates fairly well (reliant). Updating all of the program data resulted in a layering of updates that I am hesitant to eliminate without knowing which is the latest and correct program. Can anyone out there help me understand what may have happened in the change from 64 to 32 bit and how to eliminate the excess programatic downloads?

Really worried about my brother, needs serious help?

Okay so my brother is almost 20 years old and I am 18. Through his life he never had many friends, was over weight, and got made fun of at school. This started at a young age. Betta fish is pale and unresponsive?

Brought him home about a month ago, first time with a Betta fish, or any fish for that matter. He was sick about 2 weeks ago because I was using tap water, I quickly went out and bought a water conditioner, but now he's having similar non-responsive symptoms; he is lying on the bottom of the tank, rarely being active and only going up for air, he is not eating, just spitting the pellets out, and this is what worries me most...he's very pale. I did a water change today, and i'm going to fast him tomorrow and maybe the next day to make sure it's not constipation or swim bladder. (he's not swimming sideways yet..) You really should ignore the people who are telling you to abandon your newborn for a week. Those times are precious and you don't want to lose a minute. I have a five year old and I took him on trips when he was two months old. As long as you keep him away from crowds and keep your hands clean before touching the baby it should be fine. A baby that young won't have any idea it is on vacation. If you are going to go on the honeymoon, I would take the baby for sure. You can have sex while the bay is sleeping. And you can have a romantic time when your baby is awake sightseeing or cuddling. No worries :)

Okay, so i've never noticed this, but i twitch, kinda ? If it matters, I'm a 14 year old gir. I had a sleepover with my friends one time & they told me i twitch in my sleep (Yeah, some friends say stuff to mess with people, but they aren't).My mom nicknamed me as "the tornado" when i was a little kid because i move around so much when I'm asleep ! Also it takes me a while to get to sleep because i keep moving around. I can't keep my feet in the same place for very long & I ALWAYS have to have a blanket over them (don't ask). For more than three years now my 13 year old brother has been practicing in some sort of dark arts and he won't tell us exactly what it is but we see the evidence everywhere. We had to move his room into the pool house to get the voodoo out of the house. Why are so called angels always the answer to life problems.?

like millions of others i have personal problems that make life just a big dollop of misery. I wont go into that but i have searcched for answers and the only thing anyone can come up with is get the help of amgels. You see i believe my life was stollen (call it energy if you like) and now im what some call low/misserable. I have really had enough becasue all the doors are closed in life except to the so called angels. Oh by the way i do not believe in any god, godess, angel or demon. I believe in myself. But that in itself seems to be the problem. I have no faith as i believe fath is just another word like Hope. Its empty. It basically says (in my view) trust that the solution will come etc. The only solution here is most definitely money. And the world has made it wuite clear that i will never have any of that. Instead i get the option to have faith. Like patience the end result is always nil. I know ive experienced it all. I was the guy who worked double hard to attain some modicum of success in life but when i started to succeed, everything went wrong. I started thinking of ways to protect myself from people. As i had always been a giver, i made people laf and was alwaysconfident and postitive. After 35 years hard work to end with nothing and a whole lot less i began scrutinizing everything. Government, officials, big business etc care only for themselves. People are all subject to them so are of a certain type. ie were all just getting along which in my view is a farse. Were made to compete agaoinst each other and out of that one is either honoured or dishonoured. braqnded a winner or looser. They say dont judge but im constantly being judged, i wasnt good enough so now im on the scrap pile. The world has done with me now ive slaved away from them. Ive been tyranised threatened and bullied all of my life. (i dont mean beat up here, i mean FORCED to slave away for nothing and now those same people, the bullies knock on my door wanting to help me? By the way theyre called mental health. Noone alive knows me as i do within or without, even those that wrote the psycological books etc, im not in any book yet they know me, or so they think. Whose making the judgement there? Both my parents died within the past 2-3 years and because of the harassment ive recceive from officials i havent even mourned my parents passing. In short life to me is now diabolical. As for people well i cross the road if someones coming my way, not because im ashamed that i dont take care of myself but because i WILL NOT joint the masses with their acceptance of what is. Every part of life in my view is corrupted by those who hold and keep all the money and power to themselves to make sure people are reliant for a crust. The left wing media condemns republicans saying that every deficit plan will cost more to seniors. HELLO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
