What is a good free program for designing and printing out pamphlets that works like a word processing program?

I wish to create some pamphlets to pass out (As well as later on a book or two just about the size of a sheet of paper folded in a fourth) but I wish also for a built in spell check as typing fast does have a downfall for me. Also I am looking for a program that is not greatly reliant on the internet, as I heard that some programs with word processing somehow require the internet.
