Why does God make True love dependent on free will?

Your pastor is right theologically. The only reason God doesn't create a creature without freedom is cause their love isn't based on their will, it is based on God's. What would you rather have, a creature that Love's you because that is all they can do or a being that can chose to love you or not? basically a creature that has no choice but to love or one that can chose? Which would be a more meaningful love?
